Love Thy Neighborhood Joy Drive
December 12-14
The Joy Drive is Love Thy Neighborhood’s annual holiday initiative to bring warmth, dignity, and joy to our Ocean Beach and Point Loma neighbors. Each December, we rally together as a community to collect toys and gifts for families who could use a little extra support during the holiday season.
Along with toys for kids, we welcome new gifts and thoughtful regifts for teens and adults — things they can really use and enjoy. We also accept very gently used or new clothing, which is offered through our Share Fair Clothing Closet, giving families the chance to shop for free.
Through generous donations and the help of dozens of volunteers, we transform these contributions into a pop-up holiday shop where families can “shop” with dignity at no cost. The experience is filled with holiday cheer, from Christmas music to coloring activities and sweet treats, making it a joyful time for all.
Whether you give, volunteer, or spread the word, you’re part of making the Joy Drive possible. Together, we’re ensuring that every neighbor feels seen, supported, and celebrated this holiday season!
TOP PRIORITY DONATIONS
Help spread joy this holiday season by donating new, unwrapped toys and gifts for families and neighbors in need. Here are some ideas of what we’re looking for:
Toys (all ages)
- Board games, puzzles, and craft kits
- Dolls, action figures, trucks, and playsets
- Sports balls, outdoor toys, and scooters
- Legos, STEM kits, and building sets
Gifts for Teens
- Gift cards (Amazon, Target, Starbucks, sporting goods stores)
- Headphones, speakers, or phone accessories
- Yeti/Stanley cups or other trendy accessories
- Journals, art supplies, and books
- Jewelry, nail kits, or self-care items
- Sport balls and equipment
Gifts for Adults
- Gift certificates (restaurants, grocery, gas cards)
- Warm clothing and accessories (socks, beanies, scarves, coats)
- Kitchen items, specialty treats, or coffee/tea
- Toiletries, skincare, or self-care items
- Blankets, candles, and home goods
Clothing
- New or very gently used clothing for all ages
Donation Box Locations
A huge thank-you to the businesses generously supporting our drive! Boxes will be dropped off starting November 1st — donations cannot be accepted until then.
Some locations may also host special incentives to give—we’ll list those here so you can join in on the fun (and friendly competition) of giving!
