Our next Share Fair is all about community, creativity, and sustainability. This time, we’re featuring Halloween costumes, holiday items, and thoughtful regifts (new/unused) for our upcoming Joy Drive—along with clothing for the whole family.
Bring what you can, take what you need, or just come browse! There’s no obligation to donate or take anything. Every item shared helps keep good-quality clothing and seasonal items in use and out of landfills.
Resurrection Church – Ocean Beach
2083 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.
Sunday, September 28th
1:00 – 3:00 pm
At the end of the day, any remaining items will be saved for Joy Drive recipients to “shop” from, extending the impact even further. It’s a simple, joyful way to refresh your wardrobe, get ready for the holidays, and connect with neighbors.
On Thursday, August 7th, our community gathered at Long Story Irish Pub to celebrate the first anniversary of Love Thy Neighborhood — a year marked by service, connection, and impact.
At our anniversary celebration, every dollar raised went directly to support this year’s Back to School Drive, helping equip local students and teachers as they head into the new school year.
We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners for helping make this celebration — and this first year — possible.
From the beginning, our mission has been simple: to love our neighborhood well. Here’s to another year of building connections and making a difference, together.
Thanks to our incredible community, we raised and provided over $6,700 in support for our local schools this August. Together with our friends at Submerge Church, we delivered 100+ backpacks, $2,100+ in additional school and office supplies, and catered meals for more than 150 teachers and staff across Cabrillo Elementary, Dana Middle School, Dewey Elementary, and Ocean Beach Elementary — thank you, community!!! Teachers enjoyed Mad Munch breakfast sandwiches at Cabrillo and Dewey, Jensen’s Point Loma Catering sandwiches, fruit, and chips at Dana, and Dirty Birds wings, salad, and tots at OB Elementary. From backpacks to classroom essentials to hearty breakfasts and lunches, every gift helped our educators start the year feeling supported and appreciated. It was truly fun and wonderful to love on our schools and remind our teachers just how much they mean to Ocean Beach. We’re already looking forward to feeding PLHS this May and including even more of our PL Cluster schools next year!
Our August Share Fair brought neighbors together to swap clothing for all ages, keeping great pieces in use and out of landfills. Families discovered everything from kids’ sneakers and jackets to stylish workwear, while others cleared out closets to pass along items they no longer needed.
At the end of the day, remaining clothing was shared with our new partners at The Buena Onda Project, a community center and daycare serving families in need in Mexico, and our local partners at GRACE (Girls Rising Above Child Exploitation), extending the impact well beyond the event. It was a joyful celebration of community connection, generosity, and sustainable living!
OB turned into the ultimate outdoor living room as 150 neighbors, friends, and families gathered at Veteran’s Plaza for an unforgettable evening under the stars.
The night opened with Camp Spirit, whose incredible live performance had the crowd instantly hooked. Their rich harmonies, upbeat rhythms, and contagious energy rolled through the plaza like a warm summer breeze. Guests weren’t just enjoying great music — they were also helping support the band’s meaningful community work.
As the sun melted into the horizon, the screen lit up with The Princess Bride, delivering swashbuckling adventure, timeless romance, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. From “as you wish” to “have fun storming the castle,” the quotes and chuckles carried through the night air.
Thanks to the generosity of Bluebird Play and Resurrection OB, the event was free and open to all — a true celebration of music, movies, and community by the ocean.
Our Summer Movie Night series kept the magic going with The Sandlot bringing big laughs and nostalgic charm to the lawn at Veterans Plaza. The crowd felt like one big OB family—neighbors, friends, and kids sprawled out on blankets and beach chairs, many in pajamas, ready for a perfect summer evening together.
The vibe was pure Ocean Beach—relaxed, fun, and full of community spirit. We snacked, laughed, and even shouted out a few favorite lines (“You’re killin’ me, Smalls!”) as the movie rolled on, making it feel like we were all part of the same backyard hangout.
Our incredible sponsors made it all possible—Dirty Birds Ocean Beach handed out free wing coupons to everyone, Mandy Havlik kicked off the night with a warm welcome and movie intro, and we’re so grateful to Maruca and Submerge Church OB for their continued generosity and support.
Nights like this are what it’s all about—bringing our community together, making memories, and celebrating the OB way of life.
Our Summer Movie Night series hit new heights with Top Gun: Maverick lighting up the big screen at Veterans Plaza. It was our most packed movie night yet—over 100 neighbors, families, and friends gathered under the stars for an unforgettable evening filled with patriotism, popcorn, and community vibes.
The lawn was alive with red, white, and blue as people rolled in with blankets, lawn chairs, and glow sticks, ready to experience Maverick’s high-flying return. From the opening jet roar to the final salute, the crowd was fully dialed in—cheering, laughing, and feeling all the nostalgic energy this movie brings.
Our VIP seats were a total hit—cozy bean bag lounges complete with blankets, mini tables, and snack passes. It was the perfect way to enjoy a summer night movie in comfort and style.
The Snack Shack stayed busy all night, serving up popcorn, candy, and bottled water—with every donation helping us keep these community nights going strong.
A massive thank you to Lighthouse Ice Cream for sponsoring the evening and making it all possible. Their support helps us continue to offer these free, family-friendly events for our OB community.
Top Gun: Maverick reminded us why we love doing this—bringing people together, creating shared moments, and celebrating everything that makes Ocean Beach special.
We had an incredible time helping host this year’s Chili Cook-Off at the 2025 Ocean Beach Street Fair. From setup to the final spoonful, the energy was high and the community showed up in full force.
A big thank you to Nate, Mandy, and Anna for their behind-the-scenes leadership—coordinating setup, organizing the judges, and announcing the winners with style and precision.
The chili competition was fierce, with flavors ranging from spicy and smoky to sweet and savory. It was clear that Ocean Beach knows how to bring the heat.

The 2025 Dirty Birds Wing Eating Contest at the Ocean Beach Street Fair was absolutely epic. The crowd was huge, the energy was electric, and the anticipation was off the charts. OB showed up big time to cheer, laugh, and witness some serious wing-eating chaos—and yes, the dancing chickens made a glorious comeback.
Right in the middle of it all was our LTN champion, Captain Brady Holden of Fire Station 22. While he didn’t take home the win, he crushed an impressive 22 wings—a perfect and poetic number for the captain of Station 22.
Even better? Brady helped raise $700 for the OBMA Clean & Safe program, supporting efforts to keep our streets safe and our community strong.
Huge thanks to everyone who donated and rallied behind him. We’re proud, we’re full, and we’re already counting down to next year. OB—you never disappoint.
Shrek lit up the lawn on June 21st with our biggest Summer Movie Night crowd yet! Families, kids, and friends of all ages came out in full force, filling the field with blankets, laughter, and that unmistakable OB energy.
The cozy VIP lounges were a hit, offering a comfy, upgraded way to enjoy the show—complete with snacks and blankets under the stars. And we couldn’t have pulled it off without our amazing sponsor, Lighthouse Ice Cream, whose support helped make this free night of fun possible for everyone.
From the opening credits to Donkey’s final joke, the crowd was all in—cheering, quoting lines, and soaking up every magical moment. The Snack Shack was busy all night, serving up popcorn, candy, and water, with every donation helping us keep the series going strong.
This night was everything we hoped for and more—full of joy, connection, and a whole lot of Shrek love. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
Our first Summer Movie Night of the season kicked off on June 7th with a community favorite—The Goonies! Families, friends, and neighbors gathered under the stars for a nostalgic night of treasure-hunting adventure, setting the tone for a summer full of connection and fun.
The lawn filled early with picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and lots of excited chatter as the sun set over OB. Our Snack Shack was buzzing all night long—serving up popcorn, candy, water, and good vibes—with every donation going to support future free events like this one.
It was more than just a movie; it was a night that brought people together. We’re so grateful for everyone who showed up, cheered during the classic scenes, supported the Snack Shack, and helped make the evening so special.
Here’s to more movie magic ahead—see you at the next one!
This past ShareFair on 5/18 was such a sweet success! So many neighbors came by to donate, browse, and take home some amazing pre-loved pieces—and we loved seeing the community connect over clothing, conversation, and mimosas.
It was more than just a thrift-style swap—it was an experience. Casual, fun, and filled with good vibes. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed and made it a meaningful Sunday.
We’re planning our next ShareFair for July, and based on your feedback, we’re leaning toward a Women’s AND Children’s Back-to-School Clothing Swap!
Got other ideas or needs? Let us know—we’re all ears.
Let’s keep sharing, swapping, and supporting each other!
On Saturday, May 17th, the Ocean Beach community showed up big time for the OBMA Beach Cleanup—and we were proud to support it through Love Thy Neighborhood.
Tons of folks rolled up ready to care for the coastline we all call home. From seasoned volunteers to first-timers (and plenty of kids in tow), it was inspiring to see so many hands working together to make OB shine.
A big shoutout to Dirty Birds OB for their generosity—everyone who participated in the cleanup got a coupon to celebrate afterward, which made it even sweeter.

What a night of community and connection at our Neighborhood Nexus! Neighbors, friends, and local leaders came together at Long Story Irish Pub to share ideas, updates, and conversations about the future of Love Thy Neighborhood.

Love Thy Neighborhood was thrilled to support Ocean Beach Elementary’s Skate for the Kids Event on Sunday, March 16th. We hosted a giant bubble-making station, where kids had a blast creating huge bubbles—and the best part? No one ended up in the bubble pools. That’s a win in our book.
We also put together two amazing gift baskets and a kid’s quad for the raffle, helping raise funds for our local school. It was a beautiful spring day filled with fun, community, and support for OB’s incredible students.

In December, we wrapped up the Food and Toy Drive in partnership with the OB Community Foundation, and what an incredible way to close out the year.
Over several days, we worked tirelessly alongside amazing community volunteers—sorting donations, wrapping toys, and preparing everything to spread some much-needed holiday cheer.
